When I think of Keepa, a couple of famous quotes come to mind.
“Data is a precious thing and will last longer than the systems themselves.”
- Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web.
and
“Without data you’re just another person with an opinion.”
- Edwards Deming, Statistician
We can all have a hunch, a gut feel, about how well a product might sell on Amazon. But without data to back up our decisions, we're driving blind.
And when you don't look at the data, you put yourself in a risky position that could end up being quite costly.
So without further ado, let's get started with this Keepa review and explore why it truly is a data goldmine that every Amazon seller should be using.
What is Keepa
Keepa is an amazing data tracking software that tracks price history for products on Amazon. It is both a standalone, cloud-based software and a Google chrome extension. They also have extensions and add-ons for other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, Edge, and Safari.
Most of the data in Keepa is displayed in charts, allowing Amazon sellers to track price movement and trends over various time periods.
I personally consider the Keepa chrome extension to be one of the most powerful tools an Amazon seller can have in their arsenal.
Let's dive deeper into the features of Keepa.
What Information and Features Does Keepa Provide?
To really understand what Keepa does, and the wealth of data that it provides, you really need to use it. Then you need to learn how to read a Keepa chart, luckily we've got a tutorial for that. 🙂
Here's a full list of all the features available inside of Keepa:
Keepa Deals
The first main tab inside the Keepa dashboard is the Deals section of the website. This is where you can browse a whole heap of discounted products on Amazon that might be worth grabbing and flipping on another platform, or flipping on Amazon at a later date when the prices increase.
The latter of these methods is known as Amazon to Amazon Flips and is a great strategy that some sellers base their entire businesses on.
It's incredibly powerful if you know how to do it.
Keepa Product Finder
Inside the Data tab on the main Keepa menu, you will find the product finder feature. Keepa's product finder allows you to search the entire database of billions of products based on a multitude of attributes.
This one feature alone inside of Keepa is worth more than the subscription itself. This can make you 10's of thousands of dollars with the right strategies.
One thing to note is that the learning curve can seem steep when you just start using Keepa Product Finder. There are dozens upon dozens of buttons and filters to use.
Once you dial it in though and use a little imagination to surgically produce ASINs that are more likely to fit your buying criteria you can become an unstoppable sourcing monster.
Product Viewer
With Keepa's product viewer feature, you can import a list of up to 10,000 ASINs or UPC codes (for paid users) and get all the product data you could possibly dream of. You can either copy and paste the ASINs or you can upload a txt or csv file containing the data.
I will use this to parse through large sets of ASINs that I've downloaded using a tool like ASIN Gadget or Tactical Expander to pull out the products that may be closer to my buying criteria.
Huge time saver when you are dealing with mountains of data.
Product Best Sellers
The product best sellers data is straight forward, allowing users to view all the best selling Amazon products by category. This data is updated regularly, every 6 hours. You can also view historical sales data for the best sellers list.
This can be helpful when you want to predict what seasonal products may do well this year based on prior years.
You can also find trends of products selling faster in the Amazon catalog so that you can "ride the wave" to profitability. Even if the wave is short lived.
Top Seller List
Keepa's top seller list data is the ultimate Amazon competitor spy tool. Once inside the top seller list tab, you can click on any of the merchant names to view specific data and metrics for their storefront.
Keepa has compiled data on over 100,000 of the top sellers on the platform.
You can choose what sellers to see based on number of reviews, types of products they mainly sell, their feedback score, and even more.
Category Tree
The category tree tab is a handy list of categories, each with sub category drop-downs and direct links to browse the corresponding best sellers lists.
This is the page I create my monthly Amazon Sales Rank Chart from.
This can also be helpful if you want to dive deep into a niche.
Under each main category are sub-categories you can explore. So, if you're interested in Home & Kitchen but want to become a major player in Pots & Pans you can find all of the items in that sub-category to try and source.
Seller Lookup
If you know a specific seller ID, you can use this to search their store and check their ratings, review count and other store data.
Once you input a Seller ID you can find the breakdown of their catalog by category as well as other helpful information.
This data is not updated in real time so you may find discrepancies but this is a powerful tool for surgical storefront stalking.
Product Price Tracking
The tracking section of Keepa is extremely valuable. Just as it sounds, it allows you to set up tracking for products so you receive alerts based on the pricing criteria you have set for the product.
This is another one of Keepa's features that you'll use heavily if you want to get into Amazon to Amazon flips.
Don't forget to use this for personal purchases as well. No need to pay over retail for your dog food when you know Amazon will drop the price once every 2 months.
Which Countries Does Keepa Support?
Keepa supports 12 Amazon marketplaces, listed below. They used to support Amazon Australia but for some reason, they removed Australia data from their software. Sorry Aussies!
The current Amazon marketplaces supported by Keepa are:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Germany
- France
- Japan
- Canada
- Italy
- Spain
- India
- Mexico
- Brazil
- Netherlands
As you can see from the screenshot above, as of August 2023, Keepa is tracking 3.7 Billion products across their support Amazon marketplaces.
The Keepa Browser Extensions
The great thing about the Keepa browser extension is that once you've installed it on Google Chrome, or your supported browser of choice, data will be shown inside your browser on the Amazon product page.
This is super handy and it saves you from taking the product data and having to search it on the Keepa website.
Not only can you see the Keepa charts at a glance, you can toggle through the tabs to start tracking prices, dive deeper into product data, and even find the same product being sold on eBay in just one click.
There are dozens more uses that we've made videos about over on our Youtube channel and even more inside our Keepa Academy.
Keepa Pricing
Keepa used to be a totally free software for Amazon sellers, but a few years back they started charging. They're a European based company so they charge in Euros, €19 per month to be precise. This equates to roughly $21 USD per month at the time of this writing.
You can even get a price break if you pay the year in full.
Keepa does offer a free version, however the data you can access is quite limited. Take a look at the plan comparisons below to see the differences between a free and paid Keepa account.
Keepa Paid Account vs Free Account
The free Keepa plan is good to see how the tool works, but the data is extremely limited and it's not going to help you make informed decisions with your Amazon business.
Take a look at the table below to see all the features included with Keepa, and what the limits are for free vs paid plans:

Final Thoughts – Why Should Amazon Sellers Use Keepa?
When it comes to sourcing and selling products on Amazon, there's a lot of decisions to be made and it's virtually impossible to do so without the correct data. That's why I firmly believe that Keepa is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, that you can use in your business.
This article merely scratches the surface on what's possible with Keepa so if you want to learn more then I highly recommend you take a look at my Keepa Academy.
