Helium 10 Review – The Best All-in-One Amazon Software?

With over 2 million users around the world and over 2 billion data points processed daily, it's high time that I did a full Helium 10 review for my readers.

Often said to be a tool for private label sellers, this isn't entirely accurate in my opinion. Even as an online arbitrage and wholesale seller myself, there's features inside of the Helium 10 suite of tools that I find incredibly useful.

Let's take a look at what this software does, who it's for, and how you can get the most out of it.

What is Helium 10?

Helium10 is yet another "all-in-one" tool for Amazon sellers. You might detect a little bit of a sarcastic tone in that statement, but I only say this because there are so many software tools for Amazon sellers.

Having said that, Helium 10 has some amazing features that I'll explain later on in this article.

In a nutshell, Helium 10 is going to help Amazon sellers with a huge range of solutions including (but not limited to):

• Product Research
• Keyword Research
• Product Listing Optimization
• Operations and Inventory Management
• Analytics
• PPC Ads

Much like other tools I have reviewed before (take a look at my JungleScout vs Smartscout article for context), you may notice pretty fast that Helium 10 has a lot of tools and features that you may not necessarily need.

It's totally ok to only use a handful of the tools in this software. In fact if you are going out of your way to use every tool, you might find your productivity lacking.

Let's zoom out and take a look at the Helium 10 features from a broader view, before we dive in a little closer and examine the finer details.

We're going to take a broader look at the entire suite of tools inside Helium 10, but in the next section of this article I will break down a few of the standout features that are fantastic for Amazon sellers (in my personal opinion).

Insights Dashboard for Amazon Sellers

This is quite a handy feature for sellers. Helium10's insights dashboard lets you fully customize the dashboard layout so you can see the most important metrics for your business.

Product Research Tools

Helium10's product research tools consist of a free chrome extension, Black Box, and Xray. The chrome extension and Xray are free tools, but Black Box will require a subscription.

Black Box let's you scour through a database of over 450million products on Amazon so you can find a winning niche and products.

Keyword Research Tools

There are two keyword research tools available to users, Cerebro and Magnet.

Cerebro is somewhat of a reverse engineering tool that allows you to find keyword search volume and other data by inputting a product ASIN. This is great to uncover your competitor keywords.

Magnet on the other hand is more of a comprehensive keyword research tool. Type keywords, get data. Pretty simple (and powerful). Magnet will help you with keyword search volume for both Amazon and Walmart.

Listing Optimization Tools

As part of Helium 10's listing optimization features, there are four separate tools. These are Frankenstein, Scribbles, Listing Analyzer, and Listing Builder.

Frankenstein is a keyword "processor and cleaner", meaning that it helps you target better quality keywords with your product listings.

Scribbles is a live keyword tracking tool that helps you optimize and track high-demand keywords, with the added ability to edit back-end search terms. You can also use Scribbles to modify text field lengths for different product categories.

Listing Analyzer does pretty much what it says, it analyzes your listings to ensure they are properly optimized when compared to your competitors on amazon.

If you need help building out your listing, the Listing Builder does exactly this. This is a nice little time saving tool.

Operations Tools

There's 6 different business operations tools available to users, and one in particular is very powerful (I'll cover that one in more detail in the next section).

The operations tools include:

• A powerful inventory management tool
• A managed refund service for those pesky FBA reimbursements that we all forget about
• An automated refund tool called Refund Genie
• Fraud and counterfeit alerts
• Email marketing follow up
• A great tool called Seller Assistant

Marketing Tools

AdTomic is an AI-powered PPC (pay per click) software to help Amazon advertisers get the most bang for their ad buck. Ads might not be a big thing for you if you're doing online arbitrage or retail arbitrage, but Amazon private label sellers often rely on the power of PPC ads.

Helium 10's AdTomic is designed to help you launch, manage, and optimize your PPC ad campaigns.

Free Helium 10 Tools

Helium10 offers a heap of free tools for users, most likely in an effort to build a database of users and upsell to their paid subscriptions.

This is not to say that the free tools aren't great, but you do get what you pay for. The free tools include a keyword research tool, PPC audit, sales estimator, trending product research tools and more.

Best Features of Helium10

You've just had a quick overview of what's inside the Helium10 engine room, now let's take a look at a very small handful of tools that I personally think are great.

Bear in mind though, I am not an active private label seller so some of the features I like are not necessarily the features that others might find useful. Each to their own, as they say.

Standout Feature #1 - Insights Dashboard

We're all time poor, so anything that cuts down time when doing things like evaluating performance is a huge plus for me. Helium10's insights dashboard is a powerful tool that allows you to customize the data you want to see in one quick glance.

What I love is that you can quickly see your profit and loss numbers, including a graph comparing the data to previous time periods, and you can toggle between revenue, products, and advertising.

The insights dashboard will also give you suggestions to help you streamline your business. This might be an alert to order more inventory, refund opportunities, or listing keyword suggestions.

A dashboard can make or break a software in my opinion, and Helium10 has definitely done a good job with their insights dashboard.

Standout Feature #2 - Seller Assistant

Getting product reviews on Amazon is a vital part of any seller's business, but they aren't easy to get and receiving negative Amazon reviews can be brutal on not only your business, but also your self esteem! Yeh, sometimes they hurt.

Seller Assistant is designed to send out automated customer review requests so you don't need to worry about doing any manual work. You can get very specific and targeted in your review requests so can get the best customer feedback possible.

I love automating my Amazon business, so Seller Assistant gets my vote when it comes to customer reviews.

Standout Feature #3 - Refund Genie

If you've ever sold with Amazon FBA you'll be well aware that the refund process for sellers is confusing and tedious. Refund Genie helps automate the refund process, saving you a load of time.

Refund Genie automatically checks four different reasons why you might be eligible for a refund from Amazon, and sends off pre-written requests to Amazon on your behalf.

Another time saving feature, gets the nod from me!

Standout Feature #4 - Cerebro

Apart from having a cool name, Cerebro is actually quite nice tool. This tool allows you to lookup existing ASINs to analyze keywords ranking strategies that are being used by your competitors on Amazon and Walmart.

Going down the reverse ASIN search rabbithole can be very lucrative and a great learning experience.

Helium 10 Drawbacks

There are two main drawbacks to this software that I can personally see. The first one, like many others in the same class, is the learning curve.

Helium 10 is such a comprehensive suite of tools that it can be very daunting to new sellers. This can be solved with time and effort, but it might be off-putting for some new sellers who want to get up and running fast.

The other drawback is the price. While it is better prices than it's competitors, you only get limited features at the cheapest level. Some of my favorite features of this tool are only available at the higher priced plans, so this might be an issue for some sellers if they are on a tight budget.

Helium 10 Pricing

Helium 10 is priced competitively when you take into consideration the amount of tools it has. Let's take a glance at the pricing.

Annual pricing for Helium 10 starts at $29 per month for the Starter plan, and jumps up to $79 per month for Platinum and $229 for Diamond.

Helium 10 Alternatives

In such a vast marketplace, there is never a shortage of software alternatives when it comes to Amazon software tools.

There are three main players that are in direct competitions with Helium10:

JungleScout - probably the most prominent competitor. JungleScout has a big marketshare but it does come in slightly more expensive on their cheapest plan if you opt to pay monthly.

Carbon6 - this one is a bit strange, if you ask me. Their name is remarkably similar to that of Helium 10, and it appears as though they charge for each individual tool in their suite of tools rather than charging an all-in-one price. I haven't personally used this one, so I can't comment on the effectiveness of the tools it offers.

Zonbase - founded by shamed Amazon guru Kevin David, Zonbase appears to offer similar features to Helium 10 and its other competitors. Zonbase's starter pricing is slightly higher than Helium 10.
